The powerful mindset of Georgia Simmerling
The whole country is now ready to cheer on Team Canada at the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. However, there is one top athlete we won’t get the joy of watching compete this year, but we should be cheering her on nonetheless.
Georgia Simmerling, Canada’s top competitor in women’s ski cross, broke both of her legs just three weeks ago at the final World Cup event before the Olympic Games. It is a devastating blow, to be sure, and not an easy obstacle for anyone to overcome.
But Georgia isn’t just any skier. She’s a fighter. A fighter with an incredibly resilient and positive mindset. As she explains in a recent blog post, she views her rehabilitation as yet another challenge that she will overcome on the way to achieving all her goals. Her story is a powerful reminder about how a positive mindset is the most important tool we have to being our best selves, and she remains an exemplary role model for young athletes on how to not give up.
Go Georgia go! The AfL team wishes you a speedy recovery.
