Olympians start with you, the parents

P&G’s Olympic ad “Pick Them Back Up” – you can watch it below – is pretty much guaranteed to make you reach for the Kleenex box (I know I got teary) but behind the sentiment there’s a nice take on the important role parents play in helping kids become physically literate.

Whether our kids are learning to move on the living room carpet, the skating rink, or the ski hill, it’s our encouragement, our sense of family and fun, and our support that keeps them trying; keeps them moving forward.

Not every kid who skis down the couch cushions is going to wind up at the Olympics but children who grow up being active with their parents are far more likely to be active with their own kids. And that’s a legacy worth celebrating.
