Let me be the “active aunt” to your children
My dear friend, the mother of two wonderful children,
I’m not a mom, yet. Instead, I’ve decided I’d like to be a Super-Aunt to your children. I’ll do my best to help them see the world from a different perspective, I’ll try to be a unique person in their lives, and I’d like to pass on my love of moving.
Let me share the wonders of physical activity with your children. I can even help them develop physical literacy when the time is right. There are so many fun things your 3-year-old and I can do now, and when the newborn is bigger, she can join us.
It’ll be a win-win opportunity. I’ll have fun playing with your kids and you can take care of yourself and spend time with your boyfriend. You deserve it.
So while you’re on maternity leave (and beyond!), let me:
- Hang out with your three-year-old while you take care of your newborn. I’ll convert my house into a freestyle ski course so we can do jumps. Later, he can show you how he can do them in the snow.
- Give you a weekend off. The kids and I will spend time in playgrounds where they can practice running, jumping, and climbing. I’ll be close by in case they need me, but don’t worry about them getting hurt. I know that they’ll benefit from challenging themselves as they develop their fundamental movement skills.
- Share my passion for cycling and hockey with them. I know you’re not a fan of street hockey or mountain biking, so when your kids get a little older, Super-Aunt will be there to help them discover how intoxicating these activities are. A few years from now, I would love to be the one to buy them their first bikes.
- If you’re unsure about letting your children do things, let me help. You don’t have to be anxious and you’ll see how it helps them develop their self-confidence.
- And when you’re ready to get active, you can join us. You’re a role model for your children, but you don’t have to be the only one.
I think your kids will love having a Super-Aunt as much as I will love being one. You are so important to me and your children are just as special. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives and for giving me a chance to help your amazing children develop physical literacy.
Sincerely,
Your childless friend
