Let’s move in libraries!
“Shhhhhhhhhhhh!”
This familiar scolding has changed with the evolution of the library. A place to read and study has become much more versatile and responsive to the needs of the community it’s in. Let’s Move in Libraries is just one example of how the modern library has adapted to the needs and desires of its members and the community at large.
Let’s Move in Libraries contains movement-based programs in public libraries for individuals of all ages and abilities. Programs that include everything from bike rodeos to yoga classes to music and movement storytimes are available online with resources for local librarians. The website also contains a map of programs and services available across North America.
Can’t find something close to home? It’s easy for your public library to incorporate movement-based programming with the resource directory.
Friendly tip: explore resources by desired age group or type to get started!
Thank you for highlighting the Let’s Move in Libraries project! Librarians want to partner with others in the physical literacy sector to promote active communities.
