Happy birthday, Hockey Canada!
One hundred years of Hockey Canada. That’s quite an accomplishment.
Today is the official birthday of the organization which promotes and governs Canada’s game. Now known as Hockey Canada, it was created as the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association on December 4, 1914.
Hockey Canada has been marking the occasion for months, with school programs and Canadian Tire Heroes of Play, a celebration of individuals across the country who have contributed to the success of the sport.
The Century Tour, an interactive hockey experience that has been travelling the country since Canada Day 2014, will be in Montreal and Toronto during the upcoming World Junior Championship.
And there’s the 100-year jersey, a sweater worn by all of Canada’s national teams in the current season of international play.
At Active for Life, we love the sport, and we’re proud to be a partner with Hockey Canada to help promote the long-term development of young players.
So happy birthday, Hockey Canada. Here’s to another 100 years of fast fun on the ice.
