All you need to know about the Olympic Games in Rio
Kids can get a lot out of watching a global event like the 2016 Olympic Games: passion, inspiration, motivation, awe, national pride, and excitement top the list.
Everything you need to share this experience with your children can be found at Active for Life. As the Rio Games get under way later next week, we’ll be bringing you a list of reasons you should watch the Games with your kids and questions you can ask them while doing so.
We’ve also come up with a fun Backyard Decathlon that you can stage at home. The ten events were designed so that kids can compete — and win — against adults. Learn more about the Canadian athletes who are competing in Decathlon and Pentathlon, Damian Warner and Brianne Theissen-Eaton. Those articles both publish on Monday, August 1.
During the Games we’ll be featuring information about some of the amazing athletes — with ice in their veins — who are representing Canada on the world stage, including:
- Mark de Jonge
- Benoit Huot
- Tory Nyhaug
- Antoine Valois-Fortier
- Michael Woods
The Olympic Games in Rio
Aug. 5 to 21, 2016
Be sure to check back with us over the next few weeks. We’re kicking things off next week with an exclusive feature interview with Canadian Olympian Silken Laumann, who competed in rowing at the Olympic Games in 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996. Watch for that on Aug. 3, just before things in Rio get rolling.
